District-based Art and Architecture Appreciation Project

I worked as the coordinator of 6 local elementary and secondary schools invited by my organisation to participate in this Visual Art lesson planning and teaching project. The project includes field trips, workshops and seminars lead by registered architects. Landmarks and historical sites within the school districts were chosen by the teachers as the subjects for study. Participating students were asked to do a pretest and a post-test to gauge their knowledge and experience of architecture appreciation before and after the field trips. While the teachers, who are from the schools in 3 major districts of the city, wrote up and taught lesson plans, as the project outcome, the students produced drawings or models that shows their creative thinking and design concepts in renovating or altering of the neighbourhood landmarks they studied.
